VALLEY STAGING
- This is the holding area for all through traffic originating from or destined to any Santa Fe points south of Chico through the San Joaquin Valley to Los Angeles, including Sacramento, Stockton, Bakersfield, Tehachapi, and then east to Chicago, including Cajon, Barstow, Raton Pass and Kansas City
- The yard is the southern end of the layout and is located underneath Redding. It begins at the Durham Highway grade crossing
- The yard consists of 18 visible stub-ended tracks:
- 12 are 25ft long - each can hold a 35-car train
- the remainder vary from 2ft to 8 ft in length
- Although it has basic scenery, it is not intended to be a modeled portion of the layout
- The yard is reached by taking the left side of the wye at Chico Wye Tower
